Looking for a good place to buy some Crazy Lace or Mexican Lace from to tumble. I have seen it called both names so not sure if it is the same rock or two that look alot alike. It looks real interesting and I would love to try to tumble some. So a location to buy it from and maybe a few tips on what grit and polish to tumble it in to come out best. Thanks for you ideas!

Go here for the crazy stuff: www.kingsleynorth.com They've never let me down! As for grit, here are my recommendations: 46/70 or 60/90 as long as it takes, recharge once a week. 120/220 2 weeks 1000 1 week Titanium oxide or tin oxide polish 1 week. Don't forget about plastic pellets for the later 3 steps! There are several variables as well. For example: You could go 120/220 for 1 week and 500 for 2 weeks and go to polish. Or, you could go 120/220 for 1 month and go straight to polish. Or if you want to keep in simple, try 120/220 1 week then tripoli pre-polish for 1 week then polish. There are many more. Use your imagination and feel free to experiment.

Thanks guys for your help!! I am not sure about ordering the larger stones if I just want to tumble them. Isn't it easier to just buy them crushed to the smaller size; or to try my luck getting them the right size myself. Like the Rockshed said it was the size for slabbing, etc. but could be tumbled, would I tell them I wanted it smaller or buy the larger pieces and try getting them the right size myself?

There was a guy at the rock show Saturday that has lots of Mex. Lace. $4.00/lb or $3.00 for 10 lbs. or more. It's good lookin' - lots of color. Here's a pic of a chunk I bought. I am going over to his shop Saturday to pick up a diamond wheel I am getting from him and some more Mex Lace, so if anybody wants some, let me know. I'll be glad to pick some up for you. If you have to pay $3.00 a lb. for some unseen, plus shipping, ya' might as well have me get you some and you'll know you will be getting some with lots of color. He didn't have any tumbling size at the rock show, but he might have some at his shop. So, if anybody wants some, let me know. He bought alot of stuff from a rock shop that was going out of business. He only brought some slab of petrified wood from the Painted Desert, Brazilian agate, Mex Lace and turquoise to the rock show, so I am going over to see what else he has. The pet wood from the Painted Desert were BEAUTIFUL. I didn't get any of them because he said he has some more and I want to check them out. He got them from the Indians, who apparently are able to or were able to collect them. They would make some gorgeous pendants. llana

Well that sure has some color in it! I would be interested in getting 10 lbs of it. Not sure exactly how to contact you, but I guess with you being a god and all, you must have that all figured out. Let me know how I get you the money and you slip me the rocks Thanks! Nancy

Nancy, almost everything he had at the rock show had good color in it. I'll pick you out some good ones. If he has some smaller tumbling size pieces, I'll also get some of those, if you would like. Send me a IM and we'll work out the details.

I'll say from very recent experience, the Rock Shed's mex crazy lace beats Kingsley's hands down and ten times over!

When I go to the RockShed and look under tumbling rock I don't see any there. I checked under rough rock and didn't see any there either. So where did you find it? Does the RockShed only have it online sometimes, or am I looking in the wrong spot?
Trying to figure these online rock shops out. Wish I had one near enough to visit.
Thanks for the help.

I didn't see it either but I was ordering grit so I asked them if they had any. Give them a call, you'll find some very very nice people there.
