I saw some for sale on ebay and it said it was suitable for tumbling. I think pyrite looks really great rough, so I would never have thought of polishing it. Has anyone ever tried this, what did it come out like? My hubby bought me an amazing pyrite cube in a matrix a few years ago - d**n I really need a shelf to display these things !!

What is a matrix? (please don't say the Keanu Reeves movie - because I didn't understand that either! - I just liked looking at sexy Keanu ;D)

Not sure on tumbled pyrite- I have never seen it offered for sale as tumbled- so My guess would be that it will not tumble well (otherwise marketing guys would be promoting it as some kinda gold like FAUX GOLD- or GOLDTONE ROCK- or maybe GOLDEN NUGGETS. If you do try it I would run it alone.

I've seen tumbled pyrite for sale in the polished rock bins right next to the hematite. Looked, felt, and shined just like hematite except it had a brass color to it. They were going for $5 a piece! Jimmy

I love Pyrite in it's natural form. I do not think I would want it tumbled?

Rose, that pyrite looks beautiful in the white matrix - really stunning. I personally would like to tumble pyrite... but not that specimen. Too lovely (gee, can you tell I like it).

I have tumbled pyrite. Ehhhhh. It just looks brassy, rounded, and tarnishes. I had some on a piece of quartz I just threw in my tumbler. I do not really like tumbled pyrite, I like natural pyrite. It got rounded in the quartz, and if someone was real drunk, they might think it was gold, if the light was real bad, they were really loaded, and dumb.

Hmmm, Don't know that I want to tumble it, but reading the metaphysical description, glad I have some. Think I'll stuff some in my pockets, for that matter. Kinda like a Cabojohn ;D And it's pretty tumbled as well. cookie

I agree I love it in its natural form, I was just wondering what it would look like tumbled. Thanks for the pic Rocky, I think it looks better before being tumbled. The thing that facinates me about it is the perfection of the cubes, so I wouldn't want to grind them out ! BTW: That pic is just one I found on a website to show Tweetie a matrix, but it is similar to the one I've got
