This is my first time tumbling and tomarrow I'm change the grit from 80 to 60. Are the rocks supposed to look different then when I first put them in?
Oh and can I tumble tigereye and hematite together?

I think I might rethink that there Kassie, cause it sound like you are going backwards. You should be getting all the pits out and the rocks edges worn in the 80 then go to something like 120/220. You want the number to get bigger on the grit size, not smaller.

Hematite and Tigereye tumble real well together. Grits almost always, if not always go from small number for coarse, to large number for fine. You would go from 80 to 120, or 220. It doesn't hurt to let the tumbler run a little longer in each cycle. Sign up, join us, you will learn a lot.

Like the others said- grid gets finer as the numbers get bigger- and your rocks should look different than when they went in- they should be smoother- pits and chips shold be gone and you should notice a nice luster when they are wet- Hope this helps- and join up- the people here are an amazing wealth of knowledge and advice
