Who ever can figure out how I make my puzzles gets this one!! I took the photo out so that the winner (Jimmy) will have to solve it himself. The puzzles are NOT as easy to solve as you might think!! Try as many times as you like!! Tom

you cut a slab, use the trim saw to cut the slab into pieces, vibe tumble the pieces all the way through to polish and put it back together.

I DO NOT believe it!! Sands and KD can run a contest for weeks and I try it and the first person wins the puzzle!! You're not right on the money Jimmy but you're close enough for me!! The only thing you left out was putting the slab between a fold in a towel before you either slam it down oR LIGHTLY hit it with a hammer. Congratulations,,,,,,,,,You stinker !! LOL Email me your addy and i'll get it off to you. Tom

Ohh.. no!! Just got back on and its gone.. think I might have accidently deleted it earlier! Believe it or not I was going to add the towl/rag and got sidetracked. Talking, reading, listening, typing, at the same time... new I was in the middle of something. I really won?? It was just a wild guess, wow! It sure is beautiful!! If I remember correctly it was something like this, "Take a slab and slam it on a hard surface or hit it with a hammer and then run the pieces through the vibe."Sorry about the screw up! Jimmy

Tom- Great little contest, wished I'd got in on the action. Pretty cool puzzles. A question for you? During the "smashing" process, don't you get some small flakes or shards that shatter off and ruin the whole thing?? It's hard to believe that it just breaks that cleanly Cool beans man, show some more picts, they are great!!! Gaetz

Gaetz,,,,,,,, The breaking part is the hardest to do.Sometimes they break very clan and other times they head straight for the tumbler. I've tried all sorts of crazy ideas but none of them worked for me.It's been kind of a hit and miss thing.I haven't made any in quite a while and my last 2 are going to Jimmy and Kim.I'm happy about that because now it will force me to make more. The thing that drives me nuts is choosing the slab.I want the puzzles to be pretty but I hate to whack a nice slab with a hammer!! LOLI've tried freezing them and dropping them in a boiling pot of water.Heating them and dropping them in iced water. The best one was when I put one under the hydraulic press in work. I ended up with dust!! LOLI tried to apply as little of force as I could but the press is just to big.I put a small round ball bearing on top of the slab and used the press again. It only made dust out of the center that time!! I keep trying and maybe now that the secret is out someone will figure a better way to do it and share their secret with "me",,,,,,,,,,,us that is. Tom

Just a thought- try a starpoint (or bullpoint as we callem) chisel- place on the center (or there abouts) and give a sharp tap with the hammer- this might do the trick-

Stefan, I've tried hitting the slabs with chisels and such but they always just make a mess out of the slabs. Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Tom
