Hi everyone, Thanks for having such a friendly and informative board! We purchased a Lortone 33B along with a good variety of rocks from The Rock Shed (Great people at the Shed) as a family Christmas gift. After finishing our first batch of mixed rock we are hooked. We wanted to speed things up a bit, so after reading many posts about the CE twin 3lb. tumbler we went ahead and purchased one of those units, for roughing mainly. Some comments on the CE: (again, thanks to everyones input on the possible pitfalls of this model). The CE does run a faster rpm than the Lortone, have yet to see if this is a good or bad thing. The belt issue, too tight right out of the box, substituted with a Lortone style O-Ring, slid the motor all the way towards the drive pulley and still a little too snug for my liking. I will elongate the slots in the direction of the drive pulley during a barrel change to take more tension off the belt. The knurled nuts do rub against the frame, poor design. The motor itself (in our unit) is not as frail as some others, ours has cartridge bearings (as opposed to bronze bushings) in a plastic housing, should last a while. Overall a good value, but not nearly as smooth as the Lortone. Hopefully it will last. Again, just want to say "Hi" and Thanks! Enjoying this hobby already, Joe B.

Hi Joe,
Welcome to the board!
Can't go wrong with Mark's board, the RockShed and a Lortone 33B. Sounds just like how I started.
Have any pics of the finished batch? ;D;D

Yes that CE is a pretty good deal- a lot of guys on the Metal Detecting board love using it for tumbling coins- I keep thinking about one so please keep us posted on it's performance!

Didn't get a chance to photograph ...yet. I will keep you posted on the CE. So far it seems okay, not as "smooth" as the Lortone, but so long as it does the job. Joe B.

Hi Joe
I think you will be happy with your Lortone...just a little bit of maintenance every once in a while, and it should last you quite a while. Plus, you can always get parts for it pretty easily. I don't know anything about the CE but seems as though others have already commented on it. Good luck with both of them and Welcome to the forum!!
