Here's a few stone canyon jasper freeforms. Playing with curves again. The top and bottom on this one are slightly curved, but it didn't show up in the pic very well. This one is 30x40mm and I'm not sure what the stone is, but I call this one the Eternal Flame. It's from one of the slabs I got at the rock show. Thanks for looking.

Nice Stoner - Really like the shape of the 1st cab. You did that on a grinder? what size wheels are you using? I've been wondering if it's possible to do concave curves on a grinder...
Have to agree with Tony ...the last one is pretty sweet...you captured the flame nicely.

Nice cabs Ed, I like the freeform frist, becasue you got a nice shape going on for such a simple stone. (whihc never looks good as a standard shape in my opinion) And that flame cab is nice. I love inclusions like that. Very ghost like.

BTW- just where the heck is "Stone Canyon"? I've heard that there is no more of it available is this true?

Thanks everyone. I thought the flame was pretty cool looking myself. Rally, Stone Canyon is down by Parkfield Calif, earthquake capital of Calif. And yes, this material is supposed to be scarce, but there is always a thing called erosion. Blarney, yes I did the curves on my grinder. I have an 8" Barranca machine that's fairly old, but I set it up with all diamond wheels and belts and it gets the job done.

Alrighty- Parkfield grade is about one of my favorite roads in all of CA, guess I need to slow down some time and see what's lying around rather than just drifting my way up and over!

Nice curves again Ed- I played with some last week- then the dang things overheated and cracked (my fault- when the water stops dripping I should reall refill the bucket) Oh well - Love the Flame Cab-- and thanks for the camera advise- I finially got some pictures- and it looks like Verizon finially tracked down the bad phone line (well actually 3 bad spots) so I'll try to get a name that cab up tonight or tomorrow night!

Wow Ed are those bright lines actually in the rock? They look like neon lights in there, too cool.

Yea Cher, the "flame" was in the center of the slab and I just cut it so it would end up in the center of the cab. A lot of waste, but I only paid .25 for the slab, so it was worth it.

That's amazing Ed, you did an outstanding job with it. You've got a one in a million cab there, a very special display piece.
