Ed - Was that 30mm round done with the core drill bit? BTW, I remember that slab now. I think you got the nicest scene it had to offer.

Ed - That slab was in my misc box. I don't know what it is, but I have always assumed it was some sort of mineral replacement. Like sagenite needles that got coated with silica, and then eventually completely replaced. Don't really know though.
I am surprised that it was the smaller core drill. That is the Richon Tools one that only cost about $6 bucks. It cut the worst for me.
It is hard to believe that the problem must be a wobble I can't hardly see in my drill chuck. I will make a few more experiments before I run to Sears for a new drill press. I will try to more firmly clamp down may water pan. I will get a new pan with a flat bottom (not one that is heat warped). I will place a piece of broken ceramic tile under the slab - not a bit of wood. I hope I can cut through slabs in 2 minutes like you did.

Nice looking Ed, Have you ever tried backing graveyard plume? Anyone? AS those photos came out real nice, but in person, allot of times the detail gets lost in the clear agate. A common practice when this is the case and you really like the cab, is to back it with a black stone. A thin slab of something like Obsidian, Basonite, or?. Some of the best looking plume agate in Graveyard is backed so the patterns and detailed really stand out. I normally only back the true Regency grade, but Shadow Plumes like you got there can really benefit from a backing. That is of chorse when the lighting isnt as nice as it is in the photos. Let me know if you guys have questions about backing a stone. But its a simple process.
That Oddity cab could Be Suedo Barite Agate Daniel. I have some, but is more beige/white. BUt i heard there is old stocks reds from the same location in Nevada were it collected. Sagenite wont come in platelets like that, sagenite would be Radiating Brust of needles. Barite would be more like PLates stacking on themselves.
Nice Cabs either way Ed. So when r u gonna start posting them to ebay?

Thanks guys. Backing cabs is my next attempt Shain. I may be putting some cabs up on ebay next week as a matter of fact, along with some more slabs of poppy jasper. That was one of the suggestions I got to improve sales. These plume cabs are probably going to be used in a lamp...more to come on that idea.

That first cab is awesome! Did I mention that Graveyard Point/Regency Rose was my favorite agate before I met the Prudent Man? Nice job, Stoner. S

Thanks guys. You may be right Kim(for a change). That does look like it. So does binghamite come from Bingha? And if so, where the Hell is Bingha?
