Those are awesome! I like the second shape the best. The stone itself is gorgeous. The best part is that you sent me some of that stone! I hope I can make it look as good.

Oh yeah, blue rock is awesome! I don't understand what you mean about the suedomorphs in the crazy lace.

Thanks guys, Cher, Sudomorphs means replacements. KNow that most agates and jaspers filled into a space that was already ocupied by minerals or crystals. IN most cases this moving in, destroyes are trace of those previose owners, expect at the element level. Well in cases like Crazylace. The minerals and crystals moved into the space, as the agate and jasper was moving in. So they kinda gave each room to grow without being destoryed by the agate and jasper process. These sudos are images of what was once a mineral or crystal.
If you look at the crazylace, rectangle cab, you notice the last photo, two disticnt crystal growths. One is the main mountain, persay. and the other kinda jets off of the base of that frist mountain. The frist mountain is a calcite sudo, the second mountain is an Argonite sudo, which then if you look at the back of the same cab, with the real nice waves, your see more Argonite sudoes in a small pocket. little sagenite like brusts. IN the frist crazylace cab, there is a Quartz sudo, you can clearly see it as a sharp "V" shape in the cab, centered in the frist photo.

Very very nice Shain. I can't tell from the photos, is there a girdle on your cabs? How might the backs be finished? It is very interesting to me how people differ in the ways they finish their cabs. That blue in the silica is super!! Great job. Bill

Nice shapes Shain. I like the Quantom material but the lace is nice too.

Thanks Shain, that's very intersting. I always wondered what it took to make the different designs in crazy lace, now I know it's different minerals.

Bill; i do cut bezels on all my cabochons. But when i photograph them, i try to reduce those hot spots in the upright photos. and take one photo of an angled cab, so you can see the gridle or bezel. if you visit my site, you'll see the photo i speak of in each cab listing. I dont always perfect the bezel, but most are standard 12-15 degrees, to a sharp edge, 2-3mm in height. Most cabs i have been cutting in the last 6 months will be polished on all sides the same. 50kgrit. But some lower quaitly cabs on my site that are older do not have polished backs, thats why they can be sold cheaper. Thanks
Joe, Quantom Gem silica is different than Quantom Chrysocolla. Which is the piece i sent you. Think moss agate vers tiger iron. The gem silcia would be the agate, and the Q-chrysocolla would be the tiger iron, minus the flashes. Thats why i say it messy to work, bcasue your mainly cutting ironstone with silica throught. As well, the gem silica would be translucnet and the Quantom Chrysocolla would be opaque. Still fun stuff either way.
Cher; allot of crazylace is just like and banded agate. Those sudoes is what makes good crazylace. The bursting kind, or the picture-esq kinds. I did one of a large mountain range(was clacite sudos), in which both above and below the range was banded lace agate. The above looked like a sun or moon, and below looked like a lake of lace. It was very cool and got snatched up fast.
