Howdy, Actually these are just sort of heels. I got one nice slab from the center of this Baker Ranch Thunderegg and a mostly heel cut off each end. I had cabbed the center cut before for one of my prize cabs in my collection but the outside pieces were very irregular and not really great for cabbing. All the cuts showed such nice shadow agate though so I thought I'd use these two too. The bands are really quite sharp but the play of the shadow agate makes them look kind of hazy in the bright light. The cool thing about Baker Ranch eggs is the matrix is highly silicified rhyolite and for the most part takes an excellent shine and the agate really resembles Laguna Agate from Mexico.. These are not fully mounted. I cheated by putting the first cab in a belt buckle mount with an over the top bezel to hide an irregularity I just couldn't get out of the edge without making the cab much smaller. Both are self collected at the Baker Ranch near Hermanas, New Mexico and about 30x40 in size. Thanks for lookin...mel a big bolo mount:

Mel, Those look fantastic! I really like the colors and banding. I'm not too much into buckles or bolo's but that's just me. Steve

Kim: Not to wear. I think I'll just dismount them and put them into my cab collection. I'm really not much into jewelry period. I'm one of those guys who doesn't even wear my watch or wedding band most the time. Always hanging them up on things or getting hawks talons caught in them etc. I think I have like four bolo ties, one belt buckle and one ring I wear to gem club meetings to look like one of the gang *L* Mainly I make the jewelry for our club raffle or volunteer fire dept raffles etc.....mel

Very nice Mel, Nevada Black Rock would look good like that too i think. As the matrix is good hard ryolite. Nice work.

Those turned out really nice! I have never tried to set any stones. May have to try it sometime. Trish
