Well this is one of the best web sites out there. There is so much info on this board. I have not found a site with this much info in one place.

Hi to KAHOOD - you are the 100th member on the board. Hey - I would add a prize, but rocktumblinghobby is - at the moment - "mainly" for passers by on the net looking for info. If I make it a bit more "sticky" with monthly events, comps, etc - then it would build in traffic i'm sure. Its something I'm looking into, unfortunately for me, most of the visitors are from the US, so I can't realistically ship stuff over there and make a few "bucks" as it were from the site - maybe someone else wants to make a bit from it - I can certainly add some sales type pages no probs. Just out of interest - what do all you folk do workwise, I work on the net full time from home doing search engine optimisation.

Congrats KAHOOD! #100th member . Welcome aboard to you and all other new members. Andy, I wouldn't worry too much about changing the site buddy. I think it is perfect just the way it is, small and friendly. A rock lovers sanctuary, full of great info. As far as work, it sounds like you have an interesting job, work at home and stay close to the tumblers, nice. For me, I work at a good sized electric utility fossil fuel power plant in the operations dept. It is not what I'd do by choice, but it pays the bills with a little left over to buy grit. But, I feel lucky to have a decent job this day and age. My dream is to cut out at 55 and go full time rocks, knapping, polishing ect. It's nice to have dreams anyway. Later all, Don

At the risk of sounding like I'm totally sucking up, all the prize I needed was finding this board. (Okay...yeah...that was sucking up). And by day I'm a big important powermad admin assistant at a major university on the east coast of the US. Everyone fears she who keeps the keys to the supply closet MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! And in my time off I crochet, paint silk, am momma to a stunningly gorgeous and incredibly beautiful two year old daughter, wife to the luckiest man in the world (ahem...you needn't actually check with him on this...I'm sure he'd agree) and yes...I tumble rocks. YAHOO! as they say out my way... I'm a tumblah! Thanks again for the site Andy.

100th member, way cool. This forum really rocks! I am a jewelery fabricator. I started in this field and didn't know it couldn't be done that way. I have been doing it that way ever since. Folks come to me with stuff they see, and every jeweler has turned them down for. I used to manage a division of a multi-national eastern corporation. I wanted to die. I went to ivy league colleges in the northeast. I ended up with three masters and a doctorate. Whoopee. The stones, and gems have given me a trade and a life. I guess, now I am a "stoner" and this whole thing really "rocks". Andy, you have done a great job with this. Who needs a prize, we already have one. Access to more prompt information and more stoners. I have done some really great things from this forum. Thanks Andy, thanks all.

Happy 100!!
I am from British Columbia, Canada. I work in a vet clinic by day and play with rocks the rest of the time. Vet clinic is part time so that leaves me lots of time to play. I tumble rocks, do some cabs and jewelry making, just started working with wirewrapping and make driftwood and stone art. Latest thing is rock people christmas tree ornaments for children and 9 grandchildren and friends. Lots of fun. I'm enjoying reading all the posts and am learning from all of your collective experience.
Thanks to everyone for your help!!

High Silver Heights. Velcommen, Bien Vieu. I always wanted to do that. A vet person, hmmmm. I was given two F1 Bengal Cats. They are pretty strange and definately unique. Why do they lick every polyethylene bag I get from my suppliers. It is rather fascinating, they lick every bag. I am not talking just a little lick, they lick away. In case any of us have Bengals, they are food watchers. In the wild they hang their food and reclaim it days later. The domestic breed watches their food, and they will not eat it all. If the food dish is too empty, even though it has food, they will watch the dish untill it is refilled. It took us a while to discover this. Our cats were not gaining body weight or size after a while untill we tried a larger bowl with the same amount. They eat miniscule amounts all day long, and all night long. The female, Muffy, watches me facet. She watches the lap the whole time I use it. She will not touch it. The male, Ralph, constantly reaches into my stone supply and picks out his favourite ones. He hides them in drawers, under rugs. When we find them, he wails and wails. They do not meow, they squeak. Bengals are the strangest felines I have ever known. I have had cats all my life. These two are real trips. I highly reccomend them to anyone who likes cats. Some of the best faceted gems are the ones Ralph tried to keep. He has a good eye.

Bengal cats eh? we should get together you'd love my Snow Leapoard shes a cutie =)....shes 8 months old right now. She loves to come to work with me when I go out on mobile detailing jobs. Shes still not very big, and looks like a small dog. As much as I know she won't be very big which means I can take her a lot of places *smirk* I'll have to post a picture of her when I have some time.

Greetings All, One hundred members in the rock tumbling message board, why to go all! I know I've benifited immensely from my participation, much more so than from all the time I've ever wasted on usenet arguing politics . I've gotten psyched enough from a little bit of selling and trading to make a big rock purchase, and much of the fun of it is having like-minded folks to tell about it. Hey Andy, I like your idea about incorporating some sort of give-away or incentive into the board, when my shipment comes in I'll email you and maybe we can work something out where I donate some rough through the board to increase traffic to the website. I'd like that. I was into stoned even before I started tumbling and it's always so much more fun when you can share what you've got, although never let there be said there's anything wrong with tumbling alone Well, who knows, keep rolling along and maybe in a few years we'll be congradulating each other on the 1000th member! WilliamC
