the company I work for deals in industrial grade hot melt glue. The pellets are about bb size and rather tough. What do you think ??

I don't see why that wouldn't work, they won't melt in the water. Do they float? The plastic pellets are nice cause they float and you can scoop them off the top of the bucket easily when you're washing the rocks.

If I recall my days in R&D correctly, pellet Fill is made from 5-polypropylene and hot glue is made from Polyvinyl acetate. The only problem I can see with using a PVA based plastic filler is that grit will become embedded in it much easier so it would make it even more critical not to use it in anything but the stage it was originally used in. Also, since it is a softer material it is more likely to shed and it may hinder the abrasive process if too much shed material is present but experimenting is part of the tumbling hobby so if you decide to try it, let us know what happens!

I'll see about grabbing a handful from a busted case and try it out on the next stage. We have a barrel almost ready to go to the polish stage, and one in stage 2. We'll see what happens.

How about kitty litter crystals? I think that would lead to a giant mess. Kitty litter crystals are formulated to absorb liquids...counterproductive if you're trying to develop a nice slurry.

Just bear in mind that those hobby joints charge 50% or 300% over wholesale price. If you can find their supplier, buy a twenty or forty pound sack, for peanuts, and you'll be set for about ten years.

hmmmm I wonder if my daughter would miss one out of a couple dozen stuffed animals? ? Once I showed the kids what to look for, they gutted their own stuffed toys - all their teddies are flat-bummed and limp-legged!
