Hi everyone, I finally got some time off from work and wanted to keep you up to date as to what is going on. We are currently in Harris, Iowa (Northwestern portion of the State ... almost into Minnesota). We have been working 6 to 7 days a week and I have been moved back and forth from days to midnights for over a week now. We are working from between 10 to 17 hours a day ... so consequently, I do not have much time for tumbling or cutting cabs. I left all of my cabbing and tumbling equipment back in Kansas. From the extent of the work that we have here to do ... it will be closer to September of this year before we are getting caught up. So ... work, work, work! The money is great and we are getting all of our bills paid off (or at least that is the general plan anyway). I might even be able to get some new equipment/rough at the end of this job I hope that everyone is doing well and that life is treating you good. My email address is bearcreeklapidary@yahoo.com for anyone that might be wanting to contact me. Take care and I'll touch base later to see how everyone is doing. Sincerely, John (a.k.a. "Bear")

Hello Kd, Well, I went to work for Mitusbuishi Power Systems ... I performed maintenance on the T-1000-A wind turbines, as an Operations and Maintenance Technician. The money was fair ... but, the safety aspects of the company did NOT even come close to my comfort level ... so, I changed jobs. I am now working for Wanzek, Construction out of Harris, Iowa at the Endeavor Wind Project site. They have the Clipper "Liberty" 2.5mw wind turbines (they stand approximately 330' in the air). They have had some gear box problems, as well as some blade problems ... so, I am here helping where I can the get them back up and running again. Consequently, the money is twice what I was making in Colorado and I can hardly believe that I am able to bring this much $$ home in a weeks time. We packed up everything that we had with us at the time and headed to Harris, Iowa. All of my cabbing and tumbling equipment is still in Ulysses, Kansas. Oh, how I miss it so! I have already been to the local rock shop in Ochedeyen, Iowa (it is only six miles away) and I am not sure if I spelled it correctly or not. The hours are long and the work is some of the hardest that I have ever done ... but, at 45 years old ... someone has to show these young kids how to work ;D /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Hello WarrenA, That sounds good ... according to MapQuest ... you are only 38 miles away! We will definitely have to get together someday for a meal or some tea. Or, if you have a local rock shop ... we can get together there and see what kind of deal we can haggle from the owner I have already worked 47 hours and it is only Wednesday. We work long hours and when they are not shifting me from days to nights and then back again ... I occasionally get time in for a meal and sleep ;D It may be a week or two ... but, I would definitely enjoy meeting someone from the board ... in Iowa. Sincerely, John

Hey John it's great to hear from you again!
Glad you got a job that's paying well and hope you can make enough money to get even with the board.
Then you can take a break or at least not have to work those long hours!
Take care and Good Luck!
God Bless you and yours!

If you need a rock grinding fix come on over. I have over 1,000 lbs. of rock so don't worry about running out. We could also travel to Sioux Falls and go to a rock shop that makes Jim's pale. send me a pm and I'll give you my phone number
