I thought i was done with my first batch, took them out of my vibe, And at first thought they were shiny as hell. had a tip from my local rock shop on a recipe for pet wood, and went to start that up. This is what i came back too, some need to go all the way back to 500 i think. Lessons learned from batch #1 -pay more attention to your first cuts, after i took them out, i realized I wasn't happy with their shapes. Some have already been taken to the grinder or re cut. -Patience, Patience, Patience, i can drive for an hour, and sit on an uncomfortable boulder waiting for fish to bite, i should be able to wait for rocks to polish. the whole shebang - less rocks that have been recut or taken to the grinder close ups i have no idea what the stuff in the bottom right hand corner is, reminds me of hematite, it can be picked up with a magnet, so has a high iron content, but i've never seen hematite with banding in it. stuff found in various buisness rock gardens, lol It's supposed to warm up to the high 40's (and 50's after that!)tomorow, so i'll be able to break out the workforce and hit the slabs at the top of pics and others! Thanks for looking Alex

you can tell if it was Psilomelane -- did the whole batch turn black till you washed it off -- everytime i do a cab of the stuff i have to clean the trays in my genie they both turn black more on the rough side but both have black water--- nice batch plenty of color nice job

Sandsman, the batch wasnt black at all in any of the stages, i don't remeber what my tile saw water looked like after cutting though.

That's your first batch!?! Great job on it. I really like the variety of stones.
