Well I came home from work Friday to find my garage smelling of something burning. Luckily nothing was on fire but the motor on my little 1.5 tumbler wasn't turning the barrel anymore but really hot as it was bound up. I got a good 5 years out of that unit.
Now the question. Buy a new motor or dummy up for a bigger tumbler? (and a new motor, hee hee!)
And that ecomomic stimulus package is right around the corner.

Hmmm.... I have no idea if it will actually work... but my roommate the ever thrifty that he is... was looking at my 1.5 lb motor and had all sorts of suggestions of ways to replace it (a small household fan motor? i think he said).
I love my little tumbler... but its hard to compete with the 15lber I have.

The little exhaust fan motors are similar in design but be sure the speed is the same and hp (usually in wattage or fractions) is the same or larger. If you got 5 years out of the original motor you should probably replace it with the same or better.

The advantage of Lortone or Thumler's is parts are available to keep them going. They are not "throw aways" like some of the cheapies.

Depends on how much cash you have to play with. fix the motor first then GET A NEW TUMBLER then you can move on to a new saw and maybe a grinder ---- ooops I am giving away what happens when you get rocks in your head
