Well the snow has finally gone away and it was above freezing today so I got my first rock hunt of 2008 in today. Man I hate winter. I ran out of stuff that didn't need cutting before going in the tumbler about a month ago, so its been pretty quiet here. Didn't find anything too fancy just a few small montana and souris agates, some jasper, some pet wood, a bit of epodite and some I just liked the look of. Sure good to have the tumbler going again.

Where did you go rocking? Looks like what we pick up from the gravel bar in the Mississippi. The way it's been raining around here and from the forecast for the next week, it will be August before the river is low enough again.

Nice! I'd say you did well considering it was so cold out!

I collected them here in Estevan Saskatchewan, they are all leftovers from glaciers. The lumpy one is a agate, not too sure if it was a souris or a montana. We get both here and too be honest I'm not very good a telling them apart . Maybe someone here has a sure fire method. I think the biggest differance might be location and I'm right in the middle between Souris Manitoba and Montana. Maybe I should call them Estevan agates. I'll post more pic's as they get polished.
SirRoxalot were are you that has snow still? We have some patches in low areas where it drifted or in shade but mostly it is gone.

I thought the only place in the USA with a longer winter than Canada was Alaska. You guys might need to move to North Dakota for the better weather. Its only 10 minutes from here and no snow also. Probably helps that we only get about a foot of snow to begin with here. Hold on, just looked up Vermont's weather in January. Not a -40 to be seen. On second thought you might want to stay where you are. Guess there is a reason 90% of Canada's population lives within a 100 miles of the boarder.

Ontario still has snow but, praise to the weather gods, it's almost gone now here in the south. Got 2cm last night, melted when the sun came up oh joy!
