Ok so here we go, got my CE Vibe tumbler and my gal pal came through with grit even tho HF dropped the ball. First picture is the tumber filled not started yet...before the lid goes on... 2nd picture is the pre tumble CATSCAN (giggle) thats my kitty...DC...stands for Dumb Cat and btw...he doesnt like the tumbler! About 6 lbs of WWR agate and AZ petwood. 2 tsp of coarse grit and enough water to make it churn. I got my diary and all going! Wish me luck! <biting nails> AgateHeaven

Yes, there is a coarse stage for vibes, but it's 120/220, not 60/90. You're using 120/220, right?

As long as it is in there run it but check often. I use 60/90 when removing matrix materials but not for long. Vibes are pretty aggressive so usually not necessary to run 60/90.

well iv started over...took out rocks...cleaned everything. I took out some of the rock and I added glass slump marbles and a less coarse grit, spritzed it with water...the rocks are moving been checking on it regularly. Its got a nice slurry started so far. Thanks yall <less apprehensive> AgateHeaven

if it was a thumlers vibe grit package then the course was likely 120. If it is 60g it would have killed that barrel quicker than the CE vibe barrels are reported to die/leak when used for rocks. (unless they have upgraded their model since the last RTH'er tried it.)

Sorry that I caused a panic. When you said course a assumed 60/90. We all know what assume means. It makes an ass out of u & me, ass u me. Just didn't want you to wear it out in one batch......MrP

If your "coarser" grit is 120 just throw it in with the fine that is in there. The grit should be broken down in about 24 hours. I clean and recharge my vibes every day. I use rotary tumblers for my 60/90 and sometimes 120 and my vibes to finish. Welcome enjoy and prepare to become addicted!!..........MrP

I'v killed 3 of those toy tumblers trying to finish one run..I am comparing the coarse grit they came with to the "coarse" I have for the vib..vib grit has slightly smaller particles...I may give the tumbler a closer inspection (once i get the BBQ ribs going for Easter Dinner) lol. Thanks ya'll AgateHeave

Thats what we are all here for, so you and others avoid making mistakes. If you want to make mistakes to learn on your own then be my guest... I thought the CE vibe isn't for wet tumbling, have fun cleaning up the leaks.... Good luck.

I think the best hope that the unit has been redesigned is what you report about the box mentioning rocks.
As I recall, the one tested here about 1.5 years ago actually said not for wet tumbling. So maybe this is new.

Yes, the box my dad's came in said "rocks" too, but that doesn't mean water in there with rocks. I'm interested in seeing how your batch goes. Please give updates, because if his would even handle the final stages with less time, I'd borrow it. I've steered clear so far due to the "dry tumble only" factor. Hope for the best for you! I'll send you good "vibes" Turq

Rick (rgcopeland) posted about using a HF vibe tumbler bowl as a replacement for the one on his Raytech that blew out, in this thread. Still early yet to tell whether it will hold for any reasonable amount of time under a wet load, but I'd guess that since he hasn't posted about his leaking yet it must be holding up so far.

Thanks Turq! Things went well through the night, this morning I found it a little dry but no leaks. I cleaned up and culled the mix. I'll get pictures in the morning when I get good light. I did have some great suprises with the rocks. I was amazed a some of the tiny bicuits I put in. Most had a black crust on the outside. There were beautiful banded whites nearly blue and some lovely carnelians. Also some black plume that completely caught me off guard. Most of the Petrified wood is ready to go to next step. Thanks for the support! <grins> AgateHeaven
