I have my first batch running in my new uv-10 vibe and they are super smooth but I can't get a shine :(they look great wet. They are all agates. I used the same polish Tin oxide I used in my other tumblers(not a vibe) and it always does OK. What does everyone recommend? THANKS!! Keith

Can't help with the vibe part. But I can say, I have had a couple of rocks that I was going to swear that they wouldn't take a polish, no matter how good they looked wet. One has been run through my tumbler at least 6 times, and may have been run a time or two more before I acquired the rock. Finally, it polished up. I broke out the new AO from the rockshed, whereas before I don't know what I was using exactly. So I'm not sure if it was a polish issue... or it just finally decided to look nice

If you know the polish is good, then it has to be 1) rock type, 2) needa more pre-polish time, or 3) too much water.
Agate takes a nice shine. Agate usually does not need much pre-polish. COuld you have made too much cream and the rocks are not getting abraided? You want a very thin slurry.

Hi Kieth, How long in the Vibe ? have you gone throught the Grit steps to get to a gloss ? eg 120--500--- 1000. Burnish/wash -- polish ?? (after they are burnished (as above) there is a good polish on my rocks ) There should NOT be any water in your vibe only damp/wet rocks If you want "Tom's Glossy" recepie Email me I cant get a document attached to this system so use john@matco.me.uk you should get results like this link img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/john-edward/TESTLIGHTVibe5thLotap07007.jpgPlease keep persevering you Will Get the Gloss !! It may be the too much water I can see water in the bottom . I ran 5 days in 220 cleaned ran 4 more in 220 cleaned ran 4 days in 600 with plastic pellets cleaned ran 3 days in tin oxide with pellets. If there is too much water do I need to start the run over or can I add more polish to dry it some? THANKS Keith

Can also very easily be a cleanliness problem. Make sure you clean the living daylights out of the rocks and the barrel, any particles of pre-polish remaining will probably ruin the polish.

Yes. Too much is as problematic as too little. In this case I suspect the polish is disproportinately settled to the bottom with the water.
Just start the polish cycle again. No need to go back further unless you have reason to believe the rocks have obtained scratches on them larger than the prior stage (which is unlikely, since you report smooth rocks).

Thank's everyone I cleaned and started the polish again. This time no water standing in the bottom. The stones have the polish covering them now a lot more than before. I will let you know the results in a few days . Keith
