Last week we adopted a new family member. She is a purebred newfoundland, she was up for adoption because her owners moved from Virginia Beach to Caldwell, Idaho and found that between work and school, they didn't have enough time to take care of her. We had to put in an application and go for interviews, luckily she chose us. She has only been here a week and she acts like she has lived here her whole life. She is 15 months old, and her name is Calypso. She doesn't like that name though, but she responds real good to Callie. Thanks for looking.................Tony

Awwww. It's nice that you adopted her and vice versa. Hopefully, she doesn't have any bad habits. Seems like the last couple of dogs we adopted have "issues". Now you'll have to test her and see if she can do water rescue! Congrats!

Awww!!! She looks like a younger version of my Zack, minus the lab parts. Newfies are great dogs. I've been around enough labs to figure out the Newfie traits that Zack has, and those happen to be the parts I love the best about him. My next dog will be pure Newfie.

What a cute puppy!
I heard dogs respond better to two syllable names - which may be why she prefers one over the other
