I polished beach pebbles and I guess I did some mistakes. It seems that most of my rocks were granite and as I found out granite doesn't polish well. I still have a few that I like, but I have no clue what they are. Can you please help me identify the rocks and maybe give me some advice? Thank you! Attachments:

stuff that won't polish. I wonder what the brown ones on the bottom are. Any idea how they can be polished? Attachments:

and my favourites. the one with stripes has the greatest shine of all. Do you know what it is? The one on top right, the green one, wouldn't polish no matter what. Can it be glass? Looks great when wet. Attachments:

Looks like you have some great tumbles here! It was hard to navigate around on your pictures when I went to them because they are so large. Take time and practice but you will be able to shrink them down to a good size in no time. It does look like you have a lot of granite but it sure shines up well for you! Usually just about impossible to get a good shine on them! Looks like you have some orthoclass feldspar (pink color) too. Great tumble! Fran

Do you live by the railroad tracks in Llano, Texas? LOL! That looks like one of my first batches of stuff I collected along the RR tracks. It just wouldn't polish!
Don't be discouraged. Looks like you did everything else right. The stones are nicely shaped. Not your fault they didn't take a polish.
Get some agates or other harder stones - several folks here on RTH sell rocks for tumbling - and go through the same process - and you'll see shine. The harder stones, like agate, does take longer in 60/90, but be patient and you will be rewarded with beautiful, shiny stones.
For a first batch, you done good!

Just my opinion, but on this type of stone I'd leave them a few days longer in the first tumble mix, let them get just a little rounder, a little softer looking. Other than that they are great!
