We went out to Quartzsite last weekend. Was the dumb ? probably it was only 108 lol While we there i just had to buy something so i found the Star Jasper that I thought was interesting. The coloring might be slightly different then you have seen before but I liked the light shades better. Rolling Hills Dolomite that i bought in jan. Something Tim found and brought over Sun. Kinda Cool looking We just cut a rough piece of the native copper, WoW

Interesting material - The Star Jasper looks like a Rhyolite with crystobalites - We have a couple Thunderegg beds in Oregon which have the same look as this within the matrix.
Great Score!

You know, I have two varieties of that star jasper in my collection. One is actually a rhyolite from Mexico more often called starburst jasper. The other is like yours but the guy who sold it to me said it was from Nevada and another guy said it was from Mexico too. The first guy called it chrysanthemum jasper. Definitely two different materials and I don't think either is actually a jasper. Wish I had more location info on these...Mel

Looks like the seagulls found your rock pile. Quartzsite must be booming this time of year.
