I finally got some of the material slabbed that we dug whilst down o the Prineville, and Madras Pow Wows. I think this will show that one can still find great material at both sites. Many people will tell you Maury Mountain is dug out, but not so, eh! Bear Creek is now a did site with most of the surface material having been picked up. At both sites, the deeper one dug, the better the material got. Woody Bear Creek Petwood Maury Mountain Number 1 Maury Mountain number 2 (deeper)

Nice photos of Maury Mt Moss. I first dug there in 1967. In them days Prineville took a bulldozer and cleaned the bedrock exposing seams of this fine moss agate. It took a little hard rock work to get it out of the seams but was well worth it. Don

Now the Forest Service goes in with a cat every now, and again , and fills in the holes. This makes digging a crap shoot. You can ten feet down and find beer bottles, candy wrappers, and no rock. Woody

Roy: The stump we were digging was thirty inches in diameter, there were solid areas, and there was junk partially petrified, the colourful material is solid, and mossy. Right next to it the wood showed grain structure. Had the whole thing been this colour, I would have kept digging. Sa it was only part of the log was colourful. Most of it is still there. Woody
