Hi all! With the great response that our first post received, we know you'll enjoy these slabs. The gem glaucophane nodules of the Panoche Hills of Central California differ in one key way from glaucophane schist commonly found worldwide ... They're striking gemstones! This is from the first (and best!) gem nodule that we collected. After slabbing this lovely material, we found it all around as we dug. It's just so ugly on the outside that we never thought it could be worth mining! These are a few of the first stones cut from our glaucophane nodules. The "top gem" is a saturated blue, with iron & manganese oxide "spiderwebs." This is one of my favorite cabs, which sold at auction on eBay. (Sorry, technically off topic, but lovely!) A few slabs of typical finds from our diggings. The stream tumbled boulders these came from are subduction materials ... Submerged deep below the mantle at depths up to four miles, thoroughly "cooked," then thrust to the surface in tectonic cataclysms. Top grade robins egg blue glaucophane slabs from a 40 lb nodule. The rule with glaucophane; the uglier the outside, the lovelier the inside! A lovely "Impressionist" agate slab Brecciated, picture jasper Slabs of Panoche pistachio floating jasper, with iron oxide staining A classic Panoche Hills brecciated jasper. We mine these in boulders that exceed 100 lb! I'm doing a ton of photos today & tomorrow, and will post more eye candy tomorrow! Be well! Kris

Your 5th pic down is so big it's messing up all the other posts on the board if one uses the "50 most recent posts" button...and I do. Could you resize it? Thnaks. Sue

thanks for the great comments! Sorry about the size of the pics causing a problem. I'm still learning the boards, and will have to find out how to edit a post tomorrow. Nothing is ever easy, eh? } Best regards, Kris
