This material looks identical to an agate from Oregon called Lincoln Agate. It is quite rare and no longer available. I would recommend looking at it carefully before cutting it. The flat one would be a very nice specimen. Here are some photos of pieces that I have in my collection that I haven't yet worked. The $30 price that you see on one of them is what I paid for it 25 years ago. Photos of a specimen that I polished up that I display in my case. View of the back. Bob

By the way this is the first time that I have seen any of this material in 25 years, especially outside of Southern Oregon where it was found. The digging location is on private property and no longar accessible (for many years) and it is in the very small logging community of Lincoln. PM me and we can discuss how to best utilize the material. Bob

Wow, beautiful stuff. Bob, your specimen is spectacular! Looks like premium Montana moss, only better!

If that is so rare, does it cross over to the "more valuable whole than cut" category like a big Laker or Fairburn? If it was mine I'd be a little afraid to cut it.

I think I'd contour polish that - rather than cut a face. tends to bring out a much better perspective on the stone.
Nice specimen though!

It is a Brazilian from the same batch as this one. Cuts are from the backside of rock in photo. I also got a flat black and white one from same box. Attachments:

Forgot to post this pic of this slice. The tiny round eye at the top of the slice is totally transparent and goes entire length of rock. I`m very happy I stopped to look in that bucket at rock sale. I was told that China recently bought out the Brazilian mine rights to these. Buy up whatever Brazilians you can while it is still available and cheap. Attachments:
