I can't find the cabs I would want to cut from this rock. I have decided to offer it in the buy-sell-swap section. ---------------------- Got this 2.5lb agate on a $1 pile in Phoenix when I drove through 2 years ago. Was not showing anything but I took a chance. made a window last week and was pleased. Blue-gray fortified agate with bright red and white almost-plumes. I have seen this somewhere before? Anybody got an ID?

I have no idea, but it is one sweet looking piece of rock, man it would make some awesome looking cabs.

I guess some slabs may be needed to see the pattern in cross-section.
I don't think 4th of July. Someone suggested Paul Bunyan, which is the best color match, but the white is not outlining the red as it does in PB.
Pics of slabs when I get them.

No clue on my part either, except it does look like the Paul Bunyon I have seen of ebay, now that you mention it! It is very pretty with that combination of colors & the variations in the pattern.

It is possible it is Paul Bunyan. Your stone there is not quite a "loopy looking" as the slab I have. May need some slabs in order to really be sure. What ever it is, it sure looks high quality and beautiful! Fran

Looks like the same stuff we picked up in our yard... very pretty with bright red and white, similar to the Paul Bunyon but no branching inclusions - it was suggested that might be Arizona Red Moss Agate, apparently very common around these parts.
great find!

Looks like moss agate from the Big Diggins claims south of Deming, New Mexico. That white looking calcite type sagenite is the indicator for that dig site. That sort of inclusion occurs in a large portion of the nodules and seams at that location. I have multiple examples in my collection many of which were self collected.....Mel

Daniel, that very similar to that slab of Big Diggins I got months ago. All those white/grey sagenitic areas is exactly what was on my slab.
