The pietersite she has there is some choice stuff! I also got some of it this week and have some of the same leopard skin jasper. It cuts like butter. This is where I get my fossil coral with agatized tubes also.

there was only a few pieces of pietersite in the box I saw. I was concerned it was not as heavy and dark blue as some slabs I had. I will see how this 4oz piece I got cuts up.
Do you have any pics of the leopard skin slabs? id the dark background all the way in - or just on the surface?

Some nice rough there cant wait to see the slabs. Is the green OJ pretty much gone now or has the pink just over shadowed it?

most green I see is course and vuggy and not many orbs. I was pleased to find the piece I did which had some tan/cream area with large green/white orbs.
there are still high end slabs for sale but they run $30 to $80.
also have seen a kabamby jasper that is khaki & green; it comes from a close location.

I`ve only made a couple of small cuts on the leopard skin and have not polished any yet. I`ll get a pic of it and post here. I hope to make a cab or two of the pietersite soon. I did a small heel cut I want to freeform. We had a huge gem and mineral show this weekend here in Austin where I got some really nice and some rare rough and met some nice folks. A good day!

Hey Daniel... I cherry picked through that box of Pietersite several months back... sorry I didn't leave much behind. I couldn't pass it up at those prices.

LOL. Well. 2 years ago I get a real great piece. I still hope the one this time is OK. It has some matrix on it, and you might have overlooked it. Still it does feel a bit light.
Dang it, but I gave the old piece to my sister-in-law before I realized how nice it was. I need her to give back the 2x3" x8mm slab in exchange for a pendant cut from part of the slab.

Years ago I bought a chunk of that same Pietersite from the same vendor at the Austin gem show. I could only afford a about a pound and a half but I had always intended to go to their shop and see if they still had more. So.. several months ago I decided to go. I went to the shop on I-35 first and they told me where the North shop was.
When I got there I saw the big chunks of OJ on the pallets but then I found the two 50 gal barrels full of OJ end cuts and spent an hour or so digging through that.... lol... but once I got my head out of the barrel I started looking around the yard for the Pietersite, but I couldn't find it. Of course I was distracted by all the rough on the pallets. I wound up with up some of the Denim Lapis as well... haha... I was just about to leave but decided to look one more time in all the corners and nooks. That's when I found the box behind the little shed, just laying on the ground. It was still priced the same as it was when I bought the first chunk about five years ago.
I'm glad you got a chunk of it too... I'm thinking it's a very rare find.
