Daniel,I got the spelling wrong on that,it is Diopsidium and is from Zaire.Sorry about that.

Mike,
I don't find the term diopsidium used anywhere other than vendors on eBay. Looks to me like chrome diopside, which is found in Zaire among other places. I have some from Canada, but it seems to be nearly pure crystal, and full of fractures. It is too fragile to saw, but otherwise it is the same color as your pics.

Yes,it is chatoyant,the whitish layers have a nice shimmer.
Nate,I'll be cabbing it soon,by the weekend for sure.
This was an ebay purchase,Mt.Minerals was the seller and they can get a little creative with their descriptions.They are also the source of the Calcite and Tiger eye.
