I was amazed that we had almost warm weather today, and decided to get in one more blocking session before winter. The table when I quit: Here are some closer shots of some of the individual rocks: More Rocky Butte: Some Arizona pet wood: I figure this is Amethyst Sage, but I just bought it as misc. rough: another dendritic material, maybe some white opalite in here, but also some breccia in clear/amber agate: I love the red breccia next to the clear black areas in this one: This is colorful jasper. Not quite Marsten Ranch, but maybe close: There is also some red brecciated jasper, some basinite, and a chunk of what I think is Paulina Ridge agate (similar to polkadot but no dots). Also a piece of pink OJ. About 3 hours and another hour for photos and cleanup. An enjoyable afternoon. I plan to slab the scenic bits of the sage agate first. Then the one with black sky over red hills.

I really like that colorful jasper! I'd like to find some of that. Scott Scott - This was a random rock form a big pile in a dealer's yard in Sweethome OR. I thought it was going to be Hampton Butte or maury mountain moss based on green matrix. It is not a moss agate, and I think this is too colorful for Hampton Butte. I mentioned Marsten Ranch because I figure it came form Oregon and it was colorful ... so. Anyway, I would send you a 6 or 8 oz piece cut off of the narrow end if you PM me your address and promise to show whatever you cut from it.

Yes Mel, I probably like Rocky Butte more than you. But I hand picked 70lbs of freshly mined boulders and another 120lbs (3 buckets) of tailings I high-graded. We were having a fee-dig at the mine, and the price for the new stuff was $3/lb and only $20/bucket for the tailings. Here is the entire haul: Here is me all dirty at the mine: ... of course this is the pile they were offering at $3/lb, so I should qualify and say that I hand-selected 70lbs (3 chunks) after I passed over all the 50, 100, and 200 lb chunks. After all, we did have to load it in our truck. LOL. They were nice and carried some of the really heavy chunks and buckets out of the pit using their skid loader, but it still had to get lifted up onto the tailgate of the truck. A dealer who traveled out there with our group really liked the price and negotiated a 2000lb trailer load and I suspect an even lower price. Seeing the whole operation was a real experience for me.

That mystery dendritic agate looks like the agate we have here in Cedar City, UT.

yeah, I have no clue where that is from. I got it reom rockin-Oregon on ebay before he quit ebay and dropped out of sight.
he tended to list a lot of things as UNKNOWN, and this was just listed as UNKNOWN DENDRITIC AGATE.
Could be from Utah.

I like the rough but I like the mine pictures better. I dream of one day finding some nice new material I can claim and earn enough to buy a excavator to carve into a mountain to get the good stuff!!

For the really big equipment they lease it, and the delivery fee way out in the wilderness is a bit steep, but still less than what a huge machine like that costs.
Tony might own some. Maybe you could partner with him.

Your dendritic looks like amethyst sage to me. I have some that exact color and i just slabbed up the darkest rock, thinking it would at least have a lot of purple somewhere but it is just too dark to see the beautiful patterns. I will slab a few of the lighter ones, like yours, today and post if I get the time. You sure have a lot of beautiful material here! Fran
