We had a sad turn of events here at home yesterday. Our little 12 yr old yorkie Revy passed away unexpectedly. She ran to the patio door to go out in the morning, and when my wife set her down on the patio (she couldn't climb stairs anymore), she lay down and drew her last breath. Luckily it has been unseasonably warm here recently, so we were able to dig a grave in the flower garden out back and give her a decent burial. As I was digging, I came upon a rock. This thing turned out to be a decent size piece of granite, a little larger than a football. We immediately decided this was Revy's stone. While at work today I was thinking about that rock. We placed it on top of Revy's grave, and figured once it got cleaned up by mother nature it would be a nice marker. Then I thought about all the carvings that have been so inspiring here, and decided I was gonna see if I could do something to Revy's rock. I figure simple is better for a first try, so I just wrote her name in the granite. If it doesn't clean up well enough, I'll try to polish the face. Here's Revy's rock Here's our little Ruby, which was her nickname Rest in peace Ruby, you'll always be in our hearts.

Oh Nate! I've got tears in my eyes. Such a sweet baby. What a lovely way to memorialize her for your family. I'm sure the stone will clean up nicely. Jo

I thread every time the time comes near for a friend to depart (with the exception of about 4 years, I have always had dogs in my life).
What a nice idea, to commemorate your friend. Don't worry about how the stone looks now. I'm sure that you will add little by little until you are ready to let go.
Greetings, Kurt

I'm so sorry. It's hard to lose our fur kids. I had a Yorkie once. Muffin. She was the best little dog. I think the stone as a memorial is awesome.

So sorry for your loss. I've got a fourteen year old and it reminded me of how lucky I am to still have her--she will get a few extra hugs tonight.
Lovely marker.
