Diane and I went to Quartzsite yesterday and did some shopping. Even though all the vendors were not set up, we purchased some to keep us going for awhile. We didn't take many pictures because most of the vendors were just getting out of bed. But John & Susana Wease of JSGems were up bright and early. We purchased some much needed supplies from them. Picked up some slabs, starting with Swirl Rhyolite. I really like working with this stuff. Laguna Lace: Graveyard Point Plume: Vaquella Agate from Mexico: Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper which didn't have any cracks: My aunt & uncle live in Morgan Hill and I'm going to make them some cabs out of this material. We'll be heading back in 3 weeks for more. LarryS

Very nice! That swirl rhyolite is wild looking stuff. Think the poppy on the left is Hornitos. I've mined the exact pit it came from and there is no Morgan Hill that looks like that.....Mel

Mel, Thanks for the proper identification on that rock. I actually think it's ugly and only bought it for my aunt. It was labeled as MH poppy jasper. Oh well, guess it goes to the bottom of the pile. Just talked to my old uncle in Morgan Hill and there is a rumor going around town that the son is reopening the mine. Uncle is still trying to find out exactly where it's at. I recently worked with the swirl rhyolite. Friends and family liked it. It's a tad softer than agate/jasper and easy to work with. LarryS

Looks like you picked up some nice slabs Larry!
I was looking for John Sunday but I guess he wasn't set up yet.
The first one you labeled Vaquella looks like Cathedral agate, sweet little Hornitos and MH poppy too!

You are going to have some fun with those slabs! I like rhyolites. They are soft but can turn out great! Fran
