While slabbing up the rocks we collected at Last Chance Canyon, I had this one rock I was saving towards the last because it was too big for my 10" saw. Whacked it a few times with the hammer & chisel, I was able to squeeze it into the vice. All the gem books mention a moss yellow jasper which is located inside the state park, which is now the forbidden zone as far as rock collecting goes. Christopher and I was wondering what this stuff is. Well I think I found some. I haven't published this exact location....yet. Rough: Slabbed, 2 1/4" x 3". Yep, there's the yellow moss. As some of you know, I'm a jasp-ag freak and I get really excited over this stuff. This sample of jasp-ag is out of bounds! No pits, cracks and has such a variety of colors. The area is known for having blue chalcedony mixed in with yellow or maroon jasper but this one actually had purple. Photo doesn't do it justice. My biggest problem with this material is tracing out the cabs. Where do you start?!?! Think I'll have to make some Bobby size ones! I now have about 50 preforms to trim up but my problem is I can't stop slabbing! Help me! Each rock has a surprise in it. LarryS

Beautiful yellow moss, keep slabbing but get in a few of those cabs so we can see them.
