how thick do slabs have to be. I am new at this and I'm not sure. I don't have a saw yet (just a tile saw My husband cut one rock with, it wasn't easy) and he cut it thick I thought but I won't complain at least he cut it for me I have it in the vibe now.

For cabbing, from 3/16" to 5/16", but generally around 1/4". Most slabs you can buy are cut at 1/4".

Yep, what Jake says. If you ever want to sell slabs on E-Bay go with 1/4". Not too may folks want slabs under that thickness. I prefer 3/16 for most cabbing as I like low domes and preforming takes longer when the piece is thicker....Mel

if it did not cut easy, it means the blade is not good enough. spend some money on a Hot DOg or Husky blade and it will cut much smoother.

Montanas can look very nice with thin slabs...but that may be too thin.
