I remember someone talking about them but don't know where that thread is ---- did see some nice ones at the show over the weekend --- some had four hearts in a row cut on them -- were about 6-8" long --others were cut in a pyamid shape showing diamond colors on them ---- even had some butterfly shapes too

we are dummies to this. are you suppose to be able to see the colors only from certain directions, only with light shining on it or are the colors suppose to be obvious no matter which direction it is turned and show without light on them? ours showed color only with light on them from above. if you laid them down in an unlighted area they just looked black.

I think it's cut parallel to the shining part - I know if you're off a bit you lose a lot of the color play

you need the light to reflect and show the different colors --- just like faceting a gem stone to get the sparkling effect I think if you put a light on the top of a piece you can see the color layers --- try turning it and see if they go away -- if they do then turn it back until you get the most color display -- that would be your top and can dome or start from there -- domes will just get layers of color , heart shapes will produce heart shaped colors , etc. --- cut or grind it like a sculpture ( wider at the bottom ) and you will get bigger and bigger color bands --- a straight side will only be a line of color -- a curve will make a rounded line of color
