Wow. I missed these last comments. So sorry. Phil..... maybe an inch or so on the average, 1 1/2 one the goldstone, and schist, inch on the fire agate. Christopher... it's glass impregnated with copper bits, as I understand. I first encountered it when I got a ring from Mexico made from monkstone back in the 70's, and I asked a rock guy about it, and his story was the monks used to make if from beeswax and metal filings, way back in the way back. That doesn't makes since as bees wax will melt from body heat Then later I heard it was glass. I've always love it...ever since that silver ring I had back then. Alisha... sounds like it. Get some if you see it again, it is easy to work, and looks good finished! I've seen it in costume jewelry, and even have a button off a woman's coat made from it. The rough reminds me of obsidian rough, which makes sense, as they are both glass, lol. Tony
