Have any of you cabbed this stuff??? It's really, really hard but didn't take a very good polish. I don't know what to do. It isn't matte or dull, it just doesn't have a great polish. I was disappointed. The color is phenomenal, though! Attachments:

It will be interesting to see what you find out about polish. I have a block of hydrogrossular that I want to make a sphere out of. Maybe I'll take a small slice off, and experiment.

I used water with the final diamond wheel- the 14,000. It's all the experience I have. Is there a better way for me to do it? This is the only thing I know.

some stones that don't get a high polish with water do better with diamond compound with oil extender
that has been my experience.
get a pad you only use diamond compound on the same as your final wheel and use it when you can't get the shine with water and wheel

Ok, I'll try that. I am planning to get the metal plate and magnetic laps for the genie, and a canvas pad for the right. It'll be awhile though. I would use the paste and oil on canvas, right??

yes but make sure you get a pad that is for final polish as some of the canvas ones are for lower grits for smoothing not polishing.
if you can get a leather one for your final polish that would last you a long time.
I have a poly pad on a flexo for my final polish steps - actually I have like three of them, one for 14,000, 50,000, and 100,000 I rarely go past the 14,000 for most stuff but now and then I get super shiney stone that wants and needs to go up to 100,000

I've never heard of that stone, very cool!! The next time you're over maybe we can try some ZAM on it.

I didn't think of that Randy, thanks!!! I have a tube big enough to last me 10 lifetimes. I knew not what I was buying.
