Howdy folks, Had the time this afternoon so I finished up three problem cabs ( softer materials) that I had on the dop heads and I got the last of the 27 cabs of harder materials I had on the dops ready for the vibe as soon as I empty out the current batch of tumbles. Here are a few pics. Thanks for looking...Mel Fern root from Three Rivers, Texas. About 50 X 35mm. The first time I did this it came out terrible so I superglued it twice and redid the cut. Still is just Ok but it's a rare material and I didn't have a cab of it in my collection. Devils Toenails from Eagle Pass, Texas. I've put this back on the stick to recut the dome as I noticed it was crappy after I finished the polish. I don't much like doing softer materials! About 50mm. 38 X 52 Dino bone from the dollar bin. Pretty problematic as it's fairly soft bone but for a buck, I like it a lot. And finally 27 cabs, mostly Texas material and mostly at least 30 X 40mm, all domed and ready for the vibe:

Mel, all are great but that devil's toenail is a blast!!! Really neat material and you did a great job on it! I'm learning what you mean about "softer materials." I think that's my biggest problem with the RSJ. I go at it too hard on the wheels. I guess that's what I get for learning on hard stuff. I'll get there eventually. Cathy

herchenx: Me too. Hopefully the vibe will not undercut too many of them. I've been working on a case of Rio grande Agates and 14 of these are Rio Grandes. They can be real problems in the vibe due to softer mineral inclusions. Also have the first four shrinkwood cabs I've ever tried in the vibe so they are an unknown . Especially hope those come out as one is slated for a bola tie and man those are hard boogers and take forever to preform and crown. Should have the tumbler free to start this batch in a couple of days so in a week or so the suspense should be over *L*....Mel

That looks like a great batch Mel! Good luck in the vibe. It can be great or tare them up. Just can't tell until you try. Fran
