The bubbler pump on my genie is starting to act up. It randomly stops and starts while its running. I'm assuming I'm going to have to replace the pump but was wondering if anyone had any ideas why its dying. TIA Tony

Hi Tony, When I bought mine, it said the pump belt needed a drop of oil about once a year or it would start slipping, causing intermittent spray. Also, if you accidentally bump the tubing against a wheel, you can get a little hole that will cause problems I know about that one first hand! Oh, it also warned that if you put too much oil, it will make the slipping worse. The replacement kit was around 40 dollars if I remember correctly. Fran

If its blowing good air then you may have some grit in the geyser I used a pressure hose in the geyser & it did it wonders now I blow it out pretty frequently
if its now pumping air and the belt not slipping then you could try a dissemble and stretching the leathers but that didn't work with my original pump and I had to get a new one
o my original pump never did work very efficiently it was a lemon out of the factory it sucked and actually it was suppose to blow
Well good luck Tony

My Genie has two geysers. If one works and the other doesn't. I put my finger over the hole to clear it. I oil my leathers occasionally and bought replacement leathers that I have never been forced to install. You can get replacement tubing at an aquarium supply store.

It sounds like me you are getting the belt wet. Be careful how far to the right you place your geyser under the 280 wheel. When this happens to me I just move it to the left for a minute and it starts squirting again. There is a screw on top of the pump where a few drops of should be in once in a while. That also may help. Don

Thanks all. The pump is stopping, its not clogged hoses or grit clogged holes. I'll try oiling the belt and keep the geyser away from the pump. I bought the machine used so I don't have a manual. Can't wait until I can get my old star diamond setup and running again. I miss that big beast with the drip system.

Call diamond pacific. They have a great guy there (forget hiss name) and he will walk you through taking the pump apart to clean the gunk that is causing it to stick. I do the cleaning at least once a year and it is easy. Take off the left side wheels, loosen the pump screws so you can lower it to remove the belt. Then you can slip out the assembly and clean it good with acetone.

DO NOT OIL THE BELT !!! That will only make the belt slip worse. On the top of the pump is a screw painted red. Remove that screw and put 1 or 2 drops of light machine oil in the hole. I use 3 in 1 oil, but something like sewing machine oil will work just as good. Don't over oil it. Too much oil is just as bad as no oil at all.
My Genie is about 15 years old now, and by using a couple drops of oil twice a year, the pump is still working fine. I have a rebuild kit on standby, but haven't had to rebuild my pump yet.

If there is no air blowing out of the air tube then it's probably either the belt slipping or the gaskets have dried out. Sometimes the gaskets dry out to the point where the pump has to be disassembled and the gaskets oiled and then the pump reassembled.

I had the same problem with mine, I replaced belts oiled leather retentioned, etc etc I had DP repair it at least twice, and it kept doing the same thing - I gave up on it and drilled holes in the covers and now drip water over the wheels, I would never use DP's bubbler again ( sorry, Don (DP owner) your bubbler sucks)

My stardiamond had drip and you connected a hose to it. I converted it to geyser because the bottom of the cabbing machine was rusting out. I put a genie tray in under the wheels and use 3 bubblers. 2 pumps one with a Y. They look like this:

Just like it's supposed to. Don't know why everyone is having trouble with their DP bubblers, unless DP made changes to the pump after I bought my machine. I guess an easy fix would be to just take the belt and hoses off of your DP air pump, and substitute a fish tank air pump.

The DP geysers work much better than my graves bubblers. They pulse and shoot the water much higher. Gives me an idea. Maybe a waterpic would do a really good job.
