Just made a deal to buy 2 (yep, that's 2!) 20 inch saws at a really GOOD price.... WOO HOO! Will be picking them up Sunday.... And yes, both work with 75% blades on them. Gonna stop at the car wash, clean out the crud, then convert them to mineral oil.
Now where the heck am I gonna put them.... hehehe

Thanks.
Got plenty of rocks to cut. I live in the middle of petrified wood, agate, travertine, obsidian, jasper and many other kinds country.
Got a place to put them, a friend is going to buy one of them, but we're gonna put both saws at his place because he has a customer that wants enough PW slabbed to do her house. So, he'll use both for that job and that'll pay for the saws in no time! <smiles!>
epa? Not a problem. These are empty and we'll be washing off less oil than someone washing their engine and undercarriage. Just want to get rid of the built up crud before I fill them with new mineral oil. Also so I can see what might need refurbing, etc. Supposedly they run just fine. Will find out when we pick them up tomorrow afternoon. At the price I paid, they can have a few problems and I'll still be smiling!
pics.. OK, will take some in the next couple days. But one is green and one is blue. Each one is only slightly smaller than a volkswagon bug!
later! Phil

Went and picked up the saws today. Cold, windy, I about froze. One was in an unheated earthen garage, the other sitting out in the middle of a field. yeah, I know.... but the price was hard to turn down. Anyway there wasn't 2 20's. The one in the garage was a bit rusty, but not anything I can't clean up. Dirty dirty dirty. And it wasn't a 20 incher. It was a 24!!! Woo hoo x2! The blade is an almost brand new notched rim blade, and had the least rust of all. Motor ran, auto feed ran, sled moved once we scraped off some crusted on dirt. A little more work than I wanted, but well worth the price. Took 6 of us to move the beast..... Saw number 2 was indeed a 20 inch unit. Sitting in the field, full of water with ice on top with a little kerosene mixed in which kept the blade from rusting and the contents are so coated with muck there's very little rusting. I think we got to it in time.... Pulled out 15 gallons of ice and water, there's still 3 inches of solidified rock crud in there to scrape out once it warms up a little, then both are off to the car wash for a good cleaning. Seller didn't know manufacturer, but both were green. So I did a little scraping here and there and fond out they both are Covingtons! The 24 is the usual blade in a box, but the 20 I had never seen the like of before. The lid doesn't have a side on one side, farthest away from the blade.... IT was too late to get pics today, will try next couple days. Oh - the blade on the 20 is a sintered blade with about 5/16th inch sintered area left on it. About 75% left I think? The motor needs to be refurbed, but I knew that going in. Were they worth it? Well, It's gonna take more work than I wanted, and my partner has zero mechanical skills, but has promised to help by doing what I say and helping that way. What did we pay you ask? Welllllllll. As Ron Popeil would say, not 1500. not 1400, not even 1200. Not even 1000. Not 900 either, but both for 800 cash! A little elbow grease and we'll have 2 saws worth a heck of a lot more! The 24 is about 6K new, and the 20 about 5K new... Yep, we're smiling..... owning these opens a lot of doors for cutting rocks for a small fee and we think we can pay off them both in no time flat once I get them running. Woo Hoo x2!

20 and 24 as a set is a good combination. Don't know how far a Covingtom vice opens, but it should be good to cut big rocks to fit the 20 inch saw.

The old Covingtons are good saws, I have had several before. The side that is open is supposed to have a vinyl/plastic cover that is held on with magnets, so you can check and see what is going on inside without opening the lid.
Nice score! If you run into problems I can help you get your money back!
