Not sure I am spelling it correctly but I got a couple slices off the saraphinite rock I bought. I am just trying to shape a small piece that broke when I first started cutting it. So far, it is working up well but I have not taken it past 280 yet. My camera doesn't seem to want to capture the greens but picks up the silver shimmer Dry; Wet: Thanks for looking! Fran

That stuff is like cabbing butter but it sure is pretty when it's done. Those are sweet!

As long as we are talking about saraphinite, can someone tell me if there is anything special one needs to do to slab the rough? Do you have to cut it on the face the fan shaped pattern is visible, or will you get that pattern any way you cut it? The reason I am asking, is I have a fairly large piece of it, maybe 6 by 10 inches in size, but it is maybe only 2 inches thick and not at all flat (like a gigantic wavy potato chip!), so if I tried cutting along the 6 x 10 inch 'face' where the nice fan shaped pattern is visible, I would end up with lots of tiny pieces. Out of the whole piece of rough, the biggest slab I might end up with would be like 2 x 3 inches. I was thinking of cutting it the other direction (to get strips like bacon :-) ) but don't know if I would loose the wonderful fan shaped pattern.

Thanks everyone!
herb, so far, it is working really easy. I have heard that it can have slivers pull out like tigers eye but so far, through the shaping in 280, it is really looking nice! Hope to finish one up soon. Fran
