I picked up this small rock thinking it looked like chrysocolla with iron oxide and would make a few good cabs Attachments:

But after looking at it in good light I saw that I had exposed what the oxidizided surface had been hiding. Copper everywhere. Any ideas to just what it may be besides copper? Attachments:

does it, turn your water red? If it does you might have a hematite, those should make up nice cabs!

Oh yes, it was blood red. That is why I thought iron oxide or rusted iron/hematite. The copper flakes may show better when I dome the cabs. As is they are kind of oriented.

I sure couldn't tell what it was but I am really looking forward to seeing some cabs from this material! I bet they turn out great! Fran
