I am very new to this site and am excited about getting started in cutting slabs, and polishing them. Have any of you folks ever tried the jooltool for polishing? www.sharpeningsupplies.com

My sister has one. She's only had afew weeks and loves it for metalwork. I sent her some softer slabs to try cabbing, but she said she will has to come up with some exhaust system because of the dust produced.

They ship from Wisconsin by UPS or USPS. Doesn't look like China to me other than everything else we buy is from China in a round about way. You should check things out a little better before you diss somebody. Heck, They at least have some people employed in the receiving and shipping departments.
Can Arkansas stone be from China? They probably make it somehow. Jim

Must be free advertising though. Searched again because I spelled it wrong and no jool tool. I am going to bookmark it though because they have some great sharpening stuff. Jim

Jim, I think what Lee was getting at was this new member has 3 total posts and 2 of them have links to places to purchase something. Will all the spam the site gets from fake members through the past years most members frown upon new members posting with links to buy something and this link the member posted had nothing to even do with the Jooltool. The jooltool is made in the USA from what I have found. It is for beginners like any inland lapidary equipment is. After reading the 3 posts by this member I doubt that they are spamming, I think they found a hobby they like and are asking questions to learn about the hobby. I think he posted the knife sharper stones asking if anyone has used them to polish stone. Rockhead11, Those sharpeners would work but will take a long time, search your local craigs list for used lapidary equipment, sometimes you can get a great deal. The jooltool will work if you want to make a couple cabs a day, I am sure it would be a good starter unit, or search for an inland flat lap, they are good to start with also. Enjoy the hobby, Jason

Thank you all. I seen the jooltool when they had a utube version on it. They showed the lady polishing an opal. Looked like the thing to have. No I am not trying to sell anything just trying to figure out and learn all I can from this site. I live in Minnesota, (southern part) and have been picking up very interesting rocks and thought maybe this may be for me. I am also an evgraver and mostly work on firearms but latley have been doing jewelry also. Thanks again all
