Howdy folks, Got the battery all charged up but the light is fading so these pics could have been better.. I collected many more types of poppies up there and have some of those cabbed but these are the ones I have slabbed. Thanks for looking....Mel This weird type that reminds me of ocean jasper came from a single pit Tom and I dug for a day or two. We removed huge boulders but most were just white and chocolate jasper. Poppies were just along the edge except for in two fantastic pieces I haven't slabbed yet as they are too big for the saw. Tom collected a monster boulder of this as a yard decoration. More slabs from the small orb vein. The red with yellow or white seeds I call strawberry jasper. In some the orbs were just scattered in white jasper: And in others the jasper was just kind of speckled. great pinks in this part of the vein. These are from another vein crossing the road into the fellows pasture. Some is kind of brecciated but all the specks on a dark background looked like views from the Hubble so I named it Cosmos Jasper. Another variation of the Firefly Jasper with white.pink poppies on a dark purple hematite background. Really solid stuff. This stuff really varies with the spots ranging from white, to pink to all shades of red. And finally, an example from the Flora Claim. This one has 1/4 inch poppies but the poppies in this stuff can be quite large. Looks a bit like the Holy Grail but from several hills away.

Those are gorgeous! Love the strawberry jasper and the Flora Claim material! The Cosmos looks similar to Ocean Jasper to me and is really pretty!

Helen, *L* No, none are from Texas. I know, it's confusing because I live on a ranch here too, but I used to have a ranch in the southern Mother Lode country outside Hornitos, California and I collected all this poppy jasper during the 14 or so years I had that place. Then I packed up all the best stuff and moved to Texas.
South Texas does have pretty poppy jasper though. I just haven't slabbed much of it....Mel

I have enjoyed the Hornitosa slab tour. The poppy materials are always beautiful, and you've amassed some amazing material. Robert
