Howdy folks, Just did a trade with Ted ( tandl) from our group. I've been drooling over his Psaronius fern specimens for a long time and he offered to trade me a few specimens for my type collection. Got them yesterday and man Ted, I've got to say I'd about pee my pants if I was walking along and found some of this material. What a treat that must be to find silicified fern specimens from the Lower Pennsylvanian period over 300,000,000 years ago right by where you live. Anyway, thanks so much Ted and here are a couple of pics for you RTHers....Mel

I think the second one is cool as hell , with some cells completely unsilicified , with completely silicified preserved cells right next them !

That's my favorite specimen too Ted. I really like the highly defined roots and the color is awesome....Mel

Isn't that the coolest stuff ever! My favorite is the first one! I just like the patterns in it.

yes he does have some great fern wood. I dont live all that far from where he found those. Just south of him down Interstate 55. I recently seen an article where miners found pet wood underground a 1,oooft down in Springfield, Il(not to far from him)
