I've used mineral oil, it works well, but it's very "greasy" and somewhat messy. I'm wanting to make my own Water-Based trim saw blade lube, without buying the commercial stuff you mix with water.
Does anyone here know what would work with my water?

I just use boraxo powder mixed in the water for cutting. I never leave the water in my saw or my blade in the water. I have a Reytech saw with the removable sump and the deck is hinged at the rear so I leave the saw open and clean out the sump after I'm done cutting. Love this set up because I can use either oil or water

When I used the Salem club's workshop, I learned that they use 2/3 water plus 1/3 pink RV antifreeze mix in their 6" and 8" trim saws. they leave the mix in until it needs changing, sometimes topping up.
On 10" saws water can be much more tricky. I tried various mixes on my 1st 10" (an old Beacon Starr) and it really shortened blade life and some materials dried out in the cut and/or made a mud that impeded the cut.
I guess the point is that water mixes work well for trimming, but no so well for slabbing.

Agreed, water mixes are not good for slabbing, And especially with a blade 10 inches or larger in diameter. The pink RV antifreeze is the non toxic stuff used to winterize drinking water tanks. NOT glycol engine coolant. Sintered edge blades are also a must with any water based coolant.

I use Kingsley North's Gem Lube in my 10" Covington saw with excellent results. Mix 10 parts water to 1 part Gem Lube. My 10" 301c blade has been sitting in this water mixture since I last ran the saw, right before Thanksgiving. Just fired it up this morning. Not a speck of rust and looks like new. Tried all other water mixtures with poor results. I slab nothing but extremely hard jasp-ag. Dump the saw reservoir beind the house and use a garden hose to clean.
