I really am. I got the 10" Highland about a year ago and used it once in all of that time, primarily because, ok, I was intimidated by it. Finally this weekend, I master the thing and now have control of my work from rock to finished product! I spent the entire weekend cutting and, while I did not get a bin full of slabs, I did fill a little paint pail! I'm really proud of that!!! :-) So here are the photos! Thanks Gary for talking me through it! From what I cut this weekend, I should be good for a while! :-) And Tony, (catmandew) it's a really great saw! I finally figured out how all of the screws and stuff work on it and, it's a really cool machine!!! Perfect for my uses!!! Thank you!

congratulations. Only by running a bunch of different materials through it will you find the surprises that it's supposed to provide. Enjoy them all. Tom

Nice slab bucket! That is a nice little unit, only thing that would make it better is a cover. You have kept that thing way too clean, better get it dirty!
Tony
PS- You do know that moveable part on the side is a thickness gauge?

Congratulation on overcoming the intimidation! And look what you have to show for it! A bucket of beauty!
I know how that is. My 10" saw doesn't intimidate me, but my propane torch does. Must bite the bullet as you did.

OK, I'm thrilled for you, really I am, but man, am I green with envy!!!! LOL! I'm really happy for you that you got over the intimidation. When I get mine, I know I will feel the same way. I remember when the tile saw was kinda scary. LOL!

Tony, I guess I realized that the device on the left side was a thickness gauge, but I've sort of assumed that my keeping track of how many turns I make on the lateral feed screw is an equally good index to thickness. I guess the time when the true thickness gauge would be desirable would be when I'm trying to determine how many turns to make for the first cut if I want it perfect. Do I error in my rationale? Tom

Yes, John, it is! If I don't have photos tonight, will get some in the morning. I got the saw from Tony, Catmandew, and he did quite a bit of work on it when he found it for me. I recommend contacting him if you need parts. Great machine and I love the gravity feed!

The 10 inch saws are my favorite, it always seems to me that the smaller stones have the best patterns. Gravity feed is the only way to go!

I love the thickness gauge... wish they would put them on more saws.... I could definitely use one of those on my trim saw as I use it for small pieces that I cannot do in my 18 inch!!!... Anyone know if they sell the thickness gauge separately.. I bet I can mod that onto my trim saw!!
