I spent some time playing with my saw Saturday while working on a few projects in my garage. Mookaite Jasper & Banded Amethyst Woodward Ranch Agate - (sausage - I think I cut this one wrong) Woodward Ranch Agate (all from same stone) Rhyolite (one stone - this is really cool rock!) I had a couple break on me, but most seem pretty nice. I just need to figure out which way to make my cuts to get the best slabs. Thanks for looking! Roger

Having a saw is great.."but". "But" now I already want a bigger saw. "But" now I want a flat lap to take advantage of some of the nicer slabs. The rhyolite is terrific. I would not have had nearly as many slabs from it, if it were not for one of the rough rocks you sent Daniel. It never would have occurred to me to cut diagonally through a stone. I ended up with both larger and more slabs cutting that way. Roger

I did, Beef I have a 10" lortone Daniel. I think I am going to want something larger/faster. This saw is nice, but so painfully slow. I hope to maybe find a project saw for a good price that can rebuild over a period of several months to keep the cost lower.

Somehow I got the idea you had recently bought a larger fixer upper. Must have confused some other guy's thread.
Periodically there are good bargains. I just got a 14" HP, and I hope it won't need much more than mounting the motor, and wiring the switch.
Meanwhile, keep cutting and posting!

There was a member who was giving up lapidary and I asked about his saw on his thread and by a message. He never replied back.com up selling to someone more local. Probably for the best. The drive from Texas to Oregon would have been a bit long anyway lol.

Ahh. But, consider the drive from Texas to Oregon some summer. Great way to load up on rocks, and maybe you can swing home through Idaho and pick up a used saw from Tony.

That's a great group of slabs. If you get a larger saw I would keep your 10" around too. There are lots of times I would like a smaller saw with a bit thinner blade for some rocks and the cost of 10" blades are way better so it makes sense to cut anything that will fit with the smaller saw. Right now I only have the 14" so its not real economical for cutting the small stuff and the blade is half the thickness of a slab so there's waste to factor in too.
