We have had a spate of reptile photos in various threads lately. To minimize the rick of thread domination I am starting this thread here.
Mel, Jean, ME or anybody else. PUT your OFF TOPIC but reptilian images here!
Yes I am starting this image free. It seems correct to me to do this. Just put your snake, lizard, turtle, crocodilian images here. Frogs too. If we get too may I'll start another thread!

Hmmmm, ok, you asked for it. (I'm a snake nut) lol Amanda (when she was younger) with "Baby" ..... Don't remember what I named this one.... Harlie with "Elvis" ... This is my favorite snake. She's a Savu python from New Guinea. Very gentle and loves to be handled. She's been held by a few board members too! ... Naturenut, talkingstones and "roughtrader"....... Here she is with Harlie.... Here's Amanda with my buddie's Burmese python. He wanted to give her (the snake ;D ) to me, but I didn't have the room...... Amanda's albino-lavender kingsnake.... My wife's albino ball python... Black rat snake that I found in my garage last summer... "Fonzy" with Harlie. We loved this little fat dude, he went to the desert in the sky last year..... The most snakes that I've had at one time was 28 (in my younger days). We have 5 now, the Savu python, kingsnake, albino ball python and 2 regular ball pythons. Yes, they are awesome pets!!

Randy! That is awesome!!! Exactly what I had hoped for. Your family is beautiful. Sad to hear about Fonzy. That Savu is really special. A super species that is only found on one small island in the Indonesian archipelago. I had forgotten about them when the exporters self regulated themselves from exporting more. They did not want to harm the species to make a few bucks. Here is a map to show how remote this little island is. Not far from where the Komodo Dragons are found.

Hey, what a great idea, Scott! Everybody likes reptiles, right? These photos were all taken at Mission Trails Regional Park over the years. My favorite, a big old female red diamond rattlesnake. She's a good four and a half feet long. The business end Distinctive black/white banding. You can see that the rattles don't taper hardly at all, shows that she has lost a few over the years, and she still has quite a few. I'd say this old girl is a senior citizen. A smaller Southern Pacific. Rosy boa Whiptail lizard Another Southern Pacific Lizard in mating colors A young Southern Pacific Just a few rattles Distinctively shaped head Cryptic coloring Will post more later. Jean

Awesome rattler pics!! Toad- yep, it was a sad day, he was a part of our family. Shotgunner- These Savu pythons are getting harder to find for sure, I feel very fortunate to have one. I had a chance to buy two, I should have gotten both. She's the most gentle reptile that I've ever had in the house, a lot of my neighbors have handled her. These guys were just discovered in 1993 and so many were exported that they were on the way to being endangered.

Jean - it was your idea! I just put it in play! lol
Love the huge red diamond! My favorite local rattlesnake.
Randy, there are some baby Savus for sale. If interested, PM me and I'll link you to the breeder. Largest snake breeder - perhaps in the world!

A few more Again at Mission Trails Some photos taken with flash during a night walk. This is another big red diamond It amazes me that there are people that walk this paved road at night that don't carry flashlights... If they only knew! Not a reptile, but something else you have to watch out for at night. The night this photo was taken, some people were walking in, one was wearing only flipflops! We told him what we had just seen, and he had the sense to turn around. Blind snake Banded California kingsnake Longnosed snake Longnosed snake A patch-nosed snake, Salvadora hexalepis. Found this snake on an earlier field trip to Sacatone Overlook. Probably the coastal version, but they can and do intergrade with the desert subspecies. Thanks for looking. Jean

Mel, the hognosed snake brings back some memories. It was my very first snake ever! My dad brought one home in a McDonalds bag (found it in the road while he was on his Triumph), I was 5 years old. It was the first snake that I had ever seen and I fell in love. I've had snakes ever since. I've had a great many hognosed snakes since then as well, they're really cool!

Randy: I'm very fond of Hog Nosed Snakes too. Really like the way their scales feel and they are so gentle natured. Plus, they put on a great show. When first encountered *L*....Mel

James. I've only one rule when handling poisonous snakes. I never physically handle them. I use tongs or a snake stick and go from the ground right into my snake bucket. Too easy to make a stupid mistake and I've seen it happen first hand with a guy trying to stuff a sidewinder into a sock because he ran out of snake bags. Looked like a painful experience and not one I'd like to have happen to me....Mel

I handled snakes a lot when I was young. Didn't have the money to buy exotics so my favorite was the hog nose. I never have killed snakes and just let them go on their merry way. Then last year a copper head bit my great grandson. Priorities have changed since then.

Here is a MONSTER I found last spring. I seen one yesterday about half the size, by the time I got a camera he was to far into the bushes. Tim

Fantastic Horned Lizard Chris! Gotta love them little guys. Fire ants have seriously affected the population here in our part of Texas. Quite rare here now. Used to see them a lot up at my poppy jasper site in Calley though.
Tim, you lucky dog. In all my years roaming the desert I've never been lucky enough to see one of those guys. If I did, I'd probably follow it around all day. Very cool pic!.....Mel
