I have a client who really wants me to wire wrap her a piece of peridot but I'm having a hard time finding something big enough (the piece I have is 14mmx14mmx14mm trillion cut cabochon and it's too small for her) and wondered if anyone has a cab they could sell me or some rough they could cut? I know peridot can be pricey too so send me pictures and prices please!
Thank you so much! Krista

That's going to be a hard order to fill. Eye-clean Peridot sizes 6-19 carats in size runs $100+ per carat wholesale. Over 20 carat size stones the price jumps to $300+ per carat wholesale. Flawed, heavily included peridots are not as expensive but even a low grade peridot big enough to wire wrap is scarce these days. If your customer is specifically wanting peridot jewelry then perhaps you could convince here to let you inlay round peridot cabs into a larger cab of a different material. Or if she just likes the color of peridot then you would probably have better luck finding a large cabbing grade green Brazilian tourmaline to fit the bill.

Wow, I didn't realize, the piece I have wasn't priced that high, I only just got it early last year. But maybe I'll see if she's interested in something a bit less expensive. Thank you for the info!

Hi Krista, If you are still looking for peridot, PM me and I can forward you the phone # of guy who has a claim on the San Carlos Res. Here is a pic of some I bought from him, this is about $100 worth. Tim

Hey Tim, about how big are those nuggets? Did you polish them or did he? I'll ask my client if she's interested in a nugget instead of a cabochon, I can wrap about anything so that'd begoodwith me.

Most of these pieces are 10mmx10mm, Probably the larger of the facet grade material he had. He did have some large pieces that are not clear and NOT facet grade, I did not ask a price since I was after facet grade material at the time. All his material has been tumbled to some extent, appears to be common with peridot.
Good luck,
Tim
