I ran across this ad and thought some of our members in the east TX area may be interested. The Austin Gem and Mineral Society is hosting Jack Guthrie's Lapidary Estate Sale this Saturday July 13th. You can read more about it here: www.austingemandmineral.org/Estate_Inv.pdf

Thanks for the tip, think I'll be there. I'm more interested in rough than anything else and other than pet wood and small amounts of others it doesn't look like he has very much. Still, there is a fair amount of equipment so who knows. It's only supposed to be 102 in Austin that day so a nice refreshing drive should be fun.

The ad also mentioned Dino Bone too. Good luck and I hope you get some great deals! And please let us know how it goes.

Sheltie, did you go to the lapidary estate sale in Austin this past Saturday? If so how was it?

I didn't go because my wife had an accident Friday night when she spilled boiling hot chocolate down her front and got second degree burns over a wide area. We were in the ER until 3AM. She has a long recovery in front of her but is doing better. She is ALMOST to the point where I can kid and harass her about making me miss the sale. I haven't heard from anyone else although I would imagine that JR (riverbendlapidary) probably went.

Sorry to hear about your wife!
I thought about going, but they would not give me pictures or prices on the buckets of rough. It's an hour drive so I passed... Anyone else make it?

Thanks to both of you. I've learned more than one thing from her accident. Don't handle anything boiling, even a LITTLE heavy, the day after you've had surgery, don't laugh when it first happens and you don't know what happened (trust me on this one!), and don't go to the ER on a Friday night! She is improving everyday and we go to a plastic surgeon on Monday to see if she had any 3rd degree burns. Everyday is one of clean the burns, apply medicine and wrap the burns. She's complaining of feeling like a mummy so she must be getting better.
