I met this guy on a sand road Tela. He inspired me, look at the grin on his face. I think he just left his girlfriends hole(they live in holes). This field is bounded by the Withlacoochee River just a few miles into Florida. Storm flanked me.

Boys and toys If we get that thread started we will all be in trouble. That airboat looks great. They are a bit noisier than the peaceful kayak approach.

Miser rig, too funny, James! The questions is, is it (lil' bitty kayak) sufficient for carrying large poundage of coral chunks? And once you've had your fill, how much weight can you add to that Civic to bring it home?
So, looks like you got some more rain. How's the river level holding?

Them good ole' suthern boys don't need worry 'bout stuff like dat. What you can't see is that "miser rig" it has a truck bed. I got this image of Jim's car at the motel off of google earth.

I had this suspicion that a Walmart P/U was gonna show up sooner or later. Might as well get on right now.
Please, no more photos from Walmart. Reminds me of my heritage and brings tears to my eyes. There is a bait car in Astor. The back is done similar to above but he hauls bait around. Couldn't he just buy a bloody Pick up truck.

The river was up 2 and 1/2 stories Jean. So my coral had 20 feet of water on top of it. I collected high ground coral. It is very infrequent. This is the old bath house in White Springs. As the river rose, they would divert Sulfur Springs water into the inside of this structure. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Springs,_Florida View of the bath house from the road today. You can see the river at lower left of building climbing higher. View of bath house from 136 bridge-river facing side Looking upstream from 136 bridge. The live oak is covered w/resurrection fern. When dry it shrivels up and turns brown. The old Telford Inn was closed down. Brick and chert

Too bad about the water being high, James. There'll be another time... Guess it'll make you have to look harder elsewhere. I really like all the photos just added. It really looks like the deep south - the vegetation and stately, old brick buildings - at least, what I picture in my mind. I really like the second to last pic, with the reurrection fern and spanish moss. Is that kudzu on the left side of the pic? There was no spanish moss where I was at in Alabama.

Those are wild muscadine grapes Jean. Kudzu is rare that far south. It covers a great deal of Atlanta though. That is a big live oak w/the fern. Maybe 6-7 feet through the base. This is a pretty and friendly little town.
The Spanish moss starts about the last 50 miles of Georgia.

Beautiful photos! Makes me want to jump on I95.
We have Spanish moss in a few areas here in Virginia. We are in zone 7 with some areas being more like an 8. We are coastal, with the gulf stream being close, so we can get pretty tropical. I used to see a lot of mistletoe, too. Weird seeing the two together in the same tree, but we do.

The coast has an entirely different enviro Tela. At my camp at Lake George an amazing enviro exists there. Ascending 70 feet in altitude to the giant Lake George creates an inland ocean effect. Plumeria, bromeliads, tropical of all sorts. Drive 1500 feet up the hill away from the lake to 70 foot altitude and nothing tropical will last due to frost and shear cold. The south east side of the giant lakes(Apopka, Crescent, George, Chain of Lakes were planted in Orange trees because the northwest killing winds would warm up coming across the big lakes. I have miles of water NW of me and my retired neighbor grows neurotic plants as do others in the neighborhood next to me.

Was traveling down US 29 between Fairburn and Palmetto GA with my father-in-law, and he started laughing. I ask him why and he said "Look at all that Kudzu growing everywhere, up trees, electrical poles & guide wires, and some growing onto the road. I help plant that stuff back in the day and look at it now, everywhere".

Are you the culprit Frankie. There are some land owners around here that might hunt you down. And pine box ya. If you looked to the west you were 4 miles or so from my place and next time call me to visit.
