Just bought this dendritic Owyhee slab. May not have it until Monday. Here is the plan.

Nice! I love the colors in that material. You picked out some great cabs. Can you tell me what is the difference between this and Owyhee flower jasper? Is it the back ground colors? I know the flower variety is hella hard, but I haven't cut this kind.

I see the names often interchanged. The flower aka Chinese dendritic has been around a while. In my memory those slabs do not always have an edge with dendrites, and may have come from larger pieces. More recently I have been seeing smaller rough with dendrites in from the edge somewhat similar to Apache Sage. I think I heard of a new claim in the area, but I can't 100% answer your question.

Cool nice looking stuff and good camera work. Now all you have to do is cut them lol. Drinking a cup of coffee before heading to the shop maybe slab something and post it tomorrow. Of course after a 2hr nap this afternoon it probably will be after noon lol I seem to be on that schedule lately I like the late nights when it's warm out. Now if they would just hurry up with the mosquito cloaking device i'll have it made.

This is definitely not Owyhee Flower Jasper nor Chinese Dendritic. Chinese Dendritic has a red, grey, green color scheme. Seems maybe related to the flower stuff, though. I've decided, for myself, that I'm going to call it "High Desert Sunset Jasper". I think its a better name more descriptive of the scenery in the rock and not as dry sounding.
BTW - Does it polish very well? I have some chunks and slabs but haven't gotten around to trying it, yet. Even at a satin polish, though, you can't beat the scenes - sorta like Apache Dendritic but with a red, yellow, orange color scheme rather than red, blue/grey, pink. C-ya, Rick

Nice material but I am disturbed that your "mock-ups" are nicer than my cabs! No fair!

I am always blown away at your photo cropping skills. There needs to be a tutorial on how the heck to do that. Is there a single piece of software your using? even your small cabs you have shown there have great patterns to them.

let me give some thought to a tutorial. I use PhotoShop, but the tools are in the free program GIMP. I should make some GIMP screenshots.

Do not download Gimp unless you are PC savvy enough to avoid the add-on crap. Just spent too much time getting rid of toolbars and junk and reconfiguring my browser. Lee

yes. I agree. if youget gimp form GNU it is by itself. but form CNET or other download site it has all kinds of crap with it. including a trial of McAfee and Bing I haet both of those. Bing is almost impossible to remove.
